Students Life


There are two canteens in college campus where students and staff enjoy snacks, sweets, tea, coffee and cold drinks. There is one staff canteen where wholesome meal for lunch is offered to the teachers and visitors coming to college for official assignment.


College Magazines:

Students’ Union publishes an issue of the College magazine named ‘Anwesha’ every year. Students and teachers contribute in unison for the same both in Bengali and English.  The Publication sub-committee takes the responsibility of editing and publishing the magazine. Some departments also publish Wall Magazines periodically.


For submitting any article, an aspiring contributor  may contact office of the students’ union or Prof. Swati Dey, Associate Professor, Department of Bengali.



The College authority facilitates in organising several cultural programmes and festivals at different times of the year to make the arduous process of learning a bit relieving. The Students’ Union takes major initiative for organising the programmes under the guidance of Cultural sub-committee.


Freshers’ Welcomes:

The Students’ Union of the College organizes Freshers’Welcomes for the newcomers where all the teachers, staff and existing students are invited. The Freshers’Welcome ceremony is cheerfully marked with lively interaction between the Freshers with Staff, Teachers and old students followed by cultural activity. Existing students perform in the programme. In addition, artist of repute are also invited to perform. The principal, teachers, staff and leader of the Students’ Union brief about the college, its academic courses and programmes, infrastructure and resources available, rules and regulations, achievements and future goal of the college.



Rightly it is said “Healthy and balanced mind resides in the healthy body only”. Realizing the underlying truth of the time-tested proverb and with the mission of achieving the all-round development of the learning youth, the College has set up a Multi-Gymnasium armed with the state-of-the-art equipments and apparatus. The students of Physical Education Department can avail  this facility at ease. However, other students need to enroll themselves first for the using the multi-gym.


Sports and Games:

The College has a large play ground where the students can play Football, Volleyball, Khokho and Cricket. Gymnasium, sports complex and other necessary items and accessories cater to the needs of students studying Physical Education as one of their subjects. The College students are encouraged to participate in intra and inter college, state and national level meets and competition.


National Cadet Cops:

The college has an NCC unit. Students are given NCC training to enable them participate in different certificate courses that help them getting recruitment in Indian Army and Air Force. Cadets of the NCC organize different extension activity in and off campus like Blood Donation Camp, Thalassemia Detection Camp and Market Place Cleaning etc.


In an average 15-20 cadets get employment in Indian Army every year from the College NCC unit. Many cadets participate in national camps and events.


Recent Activity:

Enrollments for both NSS and NCC are done at the beginning of academic session for which forms are available from the college or respective offices. It is mandatory for each student to enroll either in NSS or in NCC at the time of admission in the first year.


National Service Scheme:

The College has two NSS units that help personality grooming of the students through in-campus training, and involving them in awareness campaign on various issues and extension activity in the locality. They infuse a sense of social commitment and fellow feeling in the young minds of students and for the benefit of the local people. Certificates of participation are been given to the eligible NSS volunteers which help them score well in different recruitment procedure.


Both the units organizes special camp every year in which they undertake different activities and organizes awareness campaign on health, hygiene and nutrition, prevention of different communicable diseases, social issues like dowry, child marriages, environment protection, water preservation, waste management, etc. In addition cultural activities and programmes are also organized in the camp.


First forty-five good performing volunteers are given to scope in participating in special camp.
